Personal Wellbeing
What you may be experiencing:
Maybe your physiological, safety, love and belonging needs are all being met. Maybe you have a good sense of self-worth so your self-perception is positive. But what if something is still missing? What if that doesn’t feel like it’s enough?
Your current relationships are going well. You take care of yourself physically, emotionally, and mentally. You handle criticism and setbacks in a healthy manner. You set boundaries and respect others’ boundaries. And yet there’s that lingering void…. there’s gotta be something more…
Maslow’s hierarchy is often depicted as the pyramid you see on the right. And if the above resonates with you, you may have reached the peak of that pyramid and have entered the realm of self fulfillment.
How we can help:
Attaining self-fulfillment involves identifying your values, passions, setting goals, and taking action towards them. Your therapist can help you make sense of what you passions may have been in the past, what they are currently, or what you envision them being in the future. They may even recommend working to set SMART goals together (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely).
Reaching self fulfillment also involves self-reflection, acceptance, and self-improvement. It may include pursuing hobbies, practicing self-care, building relationships, and finding purpose in your work or community.
Sometimes the topic of self-fulfillment leads us on the topic of more existential types of discussions. What does life mean to you? What is its purpose? And where are you now with regards to that? What is the nature of reality? What about the existence of God or a higher power?
After working with us:
While every person’s experience may differ, it is our genuine hope that throughout the course of therapy, you can find the answers you are searching for.
We hope that after therapy you would live a fulfilling life by finding meaning and purpose in everyday experiences. By feeling a sense of satisfaction with your accomplishments. This can involve pursuing your passions, setting and achieving goals, building strong relationships, and contributing to your community.
Connecting to nature, the universe, God or a higher power, whatever ultimately makes sense to you, to live a worth living.
Ultimately, it's about finding what brings you joy and fulfillment, and making intentional choices to prioritize those things in your life.
Let’s find meaning together:
We don’t need to know what we’re looking for, we just need to start looking.
